Dr Ana Terlevich, Endoscopy Clinical Lead for North Bristol Trust shares her initial thoughts on how EMS Report Share has already made a difference. North Bristol Trust was one of the first Trusts to use EMS Report Share as part of a wider project within the Southwest Endoscopy group.

What first made you interested in using MEDILOGIK EMS Report Share?

Working in a region with multiple different NHS trusts with separate endoscopy units, patients are often referred to one unit but have had procedures completed at other units. I found that there was a risk in delaying treatment, or even the need to repeat procedures, when we could not access endoscopy reports and images in a timely manner from other units. In addition, our endoscopy surveillance team would have to contact separate endoscopy units to find previous endoscopy results.

Has using MEDILOGIK EMS Report Share made a difference?

Yes, it has been a huge benefit to me and my colleagues.

I can now access patient endoscopy reports for other linked trusts in endoscopy and in Clinic, I now use this functionality frequently to review detail such as previous polyp locations, images of extent and severity of inflammation in inflammatory bowel disease and findings at OGD.

We have more trusts now joining our regional MEDILOGIK report sharing network so this will be of even more benefit. Our Trust provides a tertiary service for small bowel enteroscopy and with Report Share our reports can now be viewed, along with images, back in the referring hospital.

Is MEDILOGIK EMS Report Share easy to use?

Yes, Once we had data sharing agreements in place we were quickly able to use EMS Report Share.  We had excellent support from MEDILOGIK, and their user guide made it very easy to use.
